Great place, very central and convenient. Minor flaws : the manager should invest in individual lockers, which would secure the place for every traveller, and also invest in some good mattresses, as some of them are very uncomfortable (with the metal structure inside getting in your bones...).
Very friendly hostel and in the heart of Budapest. Well located considering you have all touristic around and around 2km to train station. Very cheap as well. Staff is very friendly and nice people to hang out with. Easy going place, a great place for backpackers. :-)
Had a really lovely time with Gabriel, Pedro and Sarah. Went out with them on the first night we were there shortly after a stressful journey to Budapest and they made us feel really comfortable and happy to be there. It was great to meet other travellers, and the dog who stayed one night really brightened up our stay! Overall had a lovely time and would definitely stay there again!
I felt like home in Ciao Budapest Hostel. Balazs, the hostel owner, gave me a couch, when all the hostels in Budapest were fully booked. He and his mum answerd all questions and were very helpfull. I recommend this place to all the people who like a family-atmosphere and who like it easy and uncomplicated. I would always come back to Ciao Budapest Hostel.
No lockers available but huge kitchen. The place was small, only one room with Maybe 12 beds. Most people When I stayed there were quiet Or working so it was difficult to meet people as a solo traveler. But the location was close to many other hostels and far from the total tourist points, although walkable. A lot of food and cafes on the street and another hostel up the stairs to meet people. The staff was only there part of the time. Overall it was average.
I was disappointed with this hostel. There is no reception desk (def not 24 hrs!) and when I arrived there was no one there to let me in, (although I had given my arrival time). I was let in by other guests and had to wait for about 45 minutes for a staff member to turn up so I could check in. The kitchen was poorly equipped and dirty, the only toilet didn't lock and had no toilet paper, the shower room was also very wet and dirty. Bed was uncomfortable. No lockers. I wouldn't stay here again.
Ciao Budapest is a very small, people-driven hostel. It was an easy walk with clear directions in a nice, central location. The staff members are exceedingly friendly and treat you as a friend from the moment you arrive. There is a nice well - equipped kitchen for cooking too. Overall I had a really pleasant stay at this excellent value for money place and met some really great people - Definitely my first choice if I go to Budapest again.
